In combat shooting this technique is used to provide a maximum certainty that your target is neutralised. It's very important when using the 9mm cal. which doesn't have as much stopping power as i.e. .45 ACP. In practical shooting double tap is used for realism and to maximize the probability of hitting the target. Because of great dynamics this technique requires a very good control over the recoil.
Since this year all AIPSC competitions in Poland are officialy held as IPSC Action Air events. All shooters willing to be scored in the official IPSC Region Poland classification will have to possess an IPSC licence. All AIPSC events are now required to be 100% compatible with IPSC rules. Also all match officials are required to have an adequate licence. If anyone is interested here is the official document (in english) describing Action air rules: http://www.ipsc.org/pdf/RulesAir.pdf

That change will allow AIPSC shooters to take part in international and firearm IPSC competitions. It's a really big step for this sport in Poland.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2541024666125248255.post-21887923324361437432011-10-17T01:07:00.000-07:002011-10-17T01:08:59.214-07:00Handgun recoil controlUnsufficient recoil control generates a wide range of problems. From poor shots consistency to weakening the grip and changing the gun's position in the hand. This results mainly in a poor performance at the shooting range, but in extreme cases it may cause danger to the shooter and everybody around.

At the start, lets define the problem. The concept of recoil control is based on automatic returning of pistol's sights to the target after a shot. It happens by a fast muscle twitch occurring 0,04-0,07 seconds after firing. The key word here is "automatic." This means that it is a reflex and not a deliberate action. You should not think about it, just let it happen.

To be able to even think about the recoil control one should think about two issues: whether the gun fits the shooter's hand and whether a he has a firm grip on it. These two factors largely influence the behavior of a gun and consistency of shots. If one is not able to securely hold the weapon he surely won't control the recoil. That's why you should not be afraid of changes and, if necessary, replace the pads, modify the grip or the trigger length so that the gun used is comfortable for you. In the end, you should choose another gun if you find the current one too large or too heavy.

To keep the control over the gun's recoil it must be held properly. Weaker hand has to take an active role in the two handed grip. It should be responsible for compensating the recoil. Many shooters are trying to do too much with their stronger hand completely forgetting about the other one. It usually happens in the Weaver's shooting stance. Because the main hand is responsible not only for the trigger control but also for controling the recoil they try to put more energy in it . If we add the additional strength generated by adrenaline it often leads to overdoing the compensation and the second shot goes to the low left of the target.

Make sure your shooting stance is stable. The easiest way to verify this is by asking someone ,when you're in your shooting stance, to pull your hands down. If you're not able to maintain the same stance the same will happen while shooting. I also advice to learn the shooting stance called MODERN ISOCELES.

One last thing: you should be relaxed in your shooting stance. Tensing up your muscles interferes with fast shooting and kills the precision. Tension will just make you tired faster.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2541024666125248255.post-18363574714140184542010-11-08T08:19:00.000-08:002010-12-02T05:43:30.251-08:00Four applications for in-home IPSC trainingTo achieve and maintain a good performance one has to have a lot of frequent training. Fortunately, many exercises can be performed with dry-fire drills without leaving home. Unfortunately it's hard to set targets at an appropriate distance at home, not to mention preparing moving targets. The help comes from simple computer programs which simulate distance by displaying scaled down targets on a computer screen.
Marksman skills are paramount, but when two highly trained shooters meets, the selection of appropriate weapons can not be overestimated. So, before you purchase one, you should 5 times consider the choice.

The first point to write that there are 3 AIPSC handgun shooting divisions, differed by a accepted level of handgun modifications:

open - all modifications are allowed

standard - making it simple: all modifications that don't change pistol's external dimensions are allowed

production - no modifications are allowed; moreover, the gun can not be single-action-only

When choosing a gun one must take into account:

availability of spare parts

availability of extensions and upgrades

availability of magazines

These are, in my oppinion, the most important criteria that must be met by airsoft pistol. They are followed by the length of the barrel, ergonomics and personal preferences.

There are many interesting airsoft pistols on the market for which it is impossible to get an extra magazine, forget the internal components. If you want to compete in open or standard divisions, generally you should avoid KWA/KSC pistols. There are no or at least very few custom elements which you could use to improve their performance. The best choice is to invest in TM constructions or their clones - KJW or WE (WE guns are not 100% clones and some parts do won't fit). The manufacturer doesn't play a big role - sooner or later you will replace most of the elements with strengthened ones. As for the model of gun, I would recommend Hi-Capa 5.1, various 1911 models or Glocks. That's because there are lots of available parts and modifications.

Proffesional AIPSC guns are usually completely custom builds and their prices often exceed $2,000. You can buy complete builds, however, players usually choose to select and install components on their own. The possibility of tinkering and modifying individual gun adds a flavor to this sport. Therefore, the open class is the most popular. Some guns are just little pieces of art.

Choosing athe gun isn't an easy task. But it is worth to spend a little bit more time on selecting the right one, instead of regretting the quick choice.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2541024666125248255.post-6985386028259310452010-10-15T10:31:00.000-07:002010-10-15T10:36:47.613-07:00The modern Isoceles - articleSome time ago I have found an interesting article from "American Handgunner" magazine written by Ron Avery - the director of the Practical Shooting Academy. This time, I will describe a modified Weaver and Weaver stances. I will discuss both of them because of only slight differences between them. These are probably the most well-known stances - they can be seen in most action movies.

Again, let me start with the story. The name comes from the name of sheriff Weaver, who had invented the stance in the 70's of last century and has been successfully applied in IPSC competitions which were already popular.

A little bit of history. The primal version of Isosceles has been taught in police and FBI academies in the mids of XX century. As the time passed by, it started to be departed from as in this stance shooter's silhouette is quite a big target. In the times that booletproof vests weren't in common use it was a serious problem. Today the modern version of Isosceles, fixing most of the issues, is in use.

In the classic Isosceles shooters body has been straight up and stiff. Legs were parallel in low wide stride. In result - it hasn't been the most stable stance. Modern version assumes that the body is slightly reduced in the knees and swung forward. The leg at the strong side of the body may be slightly withdrawn (for a better balance in the case of pull/push), while maintaining the trunk sent to the front. In the era of buletproof vests silhouette's size is not a concern any more. In the shooting sports legs are rather not withdrawn as situation where someone pushes us basically should never happen. Hands can be straightened and locked at the elbows or slightly bent. Personally however, I suggest not to lock elbows. In AIPSC it doesn't matter but in the case of real firearms burden on the arms with locked elbow joints are much larger. In this stance the right hand pushes while the left one pulls the gun ensuring stability during aiming. Here's an example how it should look like.
